An Homage To Two Greats ...

I've been 'putting my face on' (as my wonderful Gran used to say) to the inimitable Terry Wogan for more years than I'd care to mention and am going to really miss his morning radio show.  How moving was his signing off speech? (Gulp!)

At this time of year I always feel impelled to defend a much maligned friend of mine ...

Tidy green globes of such scrumptiousness, I love you brussels sprouts.

Happy Birthday To Me!

Well, it was Monday actually but, yes, I am now 38 years old, a whole year older than when I last blogged!  Whether I am a year wiser or not remains to be seen!

Birthdays can be a time for reflection and, indeed, my darling little brother kindly reflected on the fact that, in a few weeks time, I shall be able to announce to the world that "I shall be 40 next year"!  Hmmmmmm.

Anyway, I had a wonderfully gentle day which started with the loveliest pressies, look ...

Note the very definite Ms Kidston theme (her cabbage roses and ditsy florals can make me weep with girly gratitude!).

Green and Blacks choccie - absolutely my favourite and my best sweet treat.

I wish this was scratch 'n' sniff so you could inhale the heavenly heady scent of my Lush bath goodies.

Mum bought me a truly pretty handmade apron I'd admired at a recent craft fair.  I can so see myself bustling about with a smudge of flour on my nose on Christmas day! :-)

Michael McIntyre dvd - an observational comedy genius!  D took me to Birmingham NIA to see him live last week as my birthday treat and it was FANTASTIC.

See what I got from my blondies ...

Sooo pretty.  They've clearly inherited my good taste!  I can't wait to stuff it with my paraphernalia.

I went to my Mum's for a sandwich lunch and, for supper, D prepared us Potato Salad With Smoked Salmon and Horseradish Creme Fraiche (p186) and The Mothership Tomato Salad (P232) from Jamie At Home.  OMG, a large glass (or two) of teeth-tinglingly-chilled Pinot Grigio, and I was a 38 year old in birthday heaven!

Anyway, I'm off to town tomorrow.  I've rather fallen in love with the idea of going on the bus (seems more festive somehow) so, route rehearsed and list to hand, I shall be beating a path to get the majority of my Chrissie shopping done. (?)

Ooh, just quickly, I'm excitedly awaiting the arrival of a couple of Folksy purchases (naughty so close to birthday and Christmas I know).

One of Treaclezoo's scrumptious cavebears in navy blue for blondie son (I already have a minty green and blondie daughter has one in honey) ...

and

Sascalia's 'Fly' print.  (What can I say?  This talented lady's art and use of colour gives me such a happy heart) ...

Sweet dreams.

A Day Of Firsts ...

Hello!

Fancy a coffee while I share a few firsts with you?

* This is my very first ever blog posting!
* I have just had my first Folksy sale!
* Today I have entered my first Folksy swap AND my first blog giveaway.

Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!

Let me introduce myself ...

My name is Heather and I am perched on the very edge of turning 38 years old. I am blissfully happily married to D and have two gorgeous babies (well, they're 8 and 11 years old but they'll always be babies to me). We live in the leafy suburbs of Leicester with our utterly bonkers chocolate cocker spaniel Bertie.

I LOVE to make jewellery. Mostly cluttered boutiquey and everso silver jewellery ...

... sometimes felt and floral ...

I occasionally make plaques and fridge magnets (few in my Folksy shop at the mo) and, far too rarely, love to paint.

Those are a few of my crafty credentials!

Truth beknown I've been lurking for a wee while but have now decided to take the plunge. Any tips would be more than welcome!

PS. Is it normal to dream of blogging when you first start out???
