Definitely Not A Selfie

It's really hard to photograph a hat without including your face.

The irony that 'selfie' has today been named as the Oxford English Dictionaries' word of the year is not lost on me.

It's Vanessa's fault!  As soon as I saw her looking so adorable in her woolly red hat, I wanted my very own.

Impatient as ever, I picked up my hook and made it up as I went along!  I wanted a sort of slouchy affair which I decided would be more forgiving than anything too styled.  I started by crocheting a circle and, when it reached approximately six inches in diameter, I continued my rounds without increasing.

It won't win any prizes for hat design but it's deliciously cosy.  Given the sudden drop in temperatures today, that suits me just fine.

Ugh!  I need a haircut!

  2. Ha ha! Love it.....and love it's MY fault you made an adorable hat for yourself! Tee hee! And you are right, it's hard to photograph a hat without doing a selfie. I wasn't brave enough to keep mine up there though and have everyone be put off their dinner! I wore mine today too, oh my word, the temperatures have dropped incredibly quickly haven't they? Your hat is really rather gorgeous H and wow to wing it without a pattern. I'm so rubbish trying to make something without a pattern. I think my brain cells refuse to play ball! Happy wearing my lovely xxxxxxxx

  12. Lovely hat Heather. I wish I could do that without a pattern. Maybe I will give it a try as our temp dropped to -7 degrees celsius today and my ears were a little chilly just from the car to the store!

  16. I know that hat dilemma only too well! Not that you need worry though, I've seen your pretty face before. Anyway, it looks fab and you pulled it off without a pattern too, so I know you're not *just* a pretty face! :D
