Winter Means ...

Swaddling in woolly goodness.

Dry skin (and don't get me started on itchy bits!).

An extra blanket.

Comfort food.  Now is not the time to be counting calories.

Extra down time.

Lots of lovely sleep.

  1. Hi Heather
Yes, yes and yes to all of the above. Beautiful little cream scarf, and I couldn't agree more about the sleeping, finding it very hard to get up and head out to work now the mornings are colder.
    Wrap up warm,

  2. Oh i'm with you on it all. I am firmly wrapped up in lots of wrist warmers, scarves, hats and very oversized jumpers. I do look a cross between a Michelin man and a bag lady, but oh well, i'm warm and cosy! I use Cath on my hands, but Vaselines gel body oil, and Nivea's irresistibly smooth body lotion are awesome for winter.

Blanket layers on the bed are essential too aren't they! I'm still refusing to have the heating on. If the Bears aren't complaining, then it's staying off. I'm seeing how far into winter I can go! ha ha!

You cream hooky looks very lovely.....don't forget to do us a selfie! Tee hee xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

    1. I'm smothering all my nooks and crannies in E45! TMI? Hahahaha!!!

It's my birthday soon and I've resolved to never again have a photo taken from nearer than 30 feet!!!

Can't believe you've not got your heating on. xxx

  3. laughing! Is E45 good? I loathe the winter for drying the skin.....although summers' not that much better! One thing I miss about IG are the filters! It's ridiculous about the heating, but the Bears walk around without any tops on and bare feet on bare floorboards. It makes me shudder, although, quite glad i've raised hardy boys! Not sure they had any choice in the matter. It's only me that seems to feel the cold so i'll put on layers and have a hot water bottle. I did put it on the other day when family came round for the day....and was annoyed because I felt like i'd failed! It went off as soon as they walked out the door though! Bah humbug!!!!!!!!!

  8. sounds lovelyt!!! Is CK good as a hand cream? My skin is super dry, especially on my lower legs, which get really itchy at this time of the year.... I try all sorts of stuff and nivea seems to work best...
Whilst I adore my bed and I know I should sleep more, I am a bit of a night owl and love going to bed late....

    1. I'm not sure about it's healing properties but CK handcream smells like heaven! It's my arms that seem to suffer with itchy patches and, to be honest, I've never found anything that really and truly works other than prescribed creams. You're a minx Pati - there's nothing more glorious than a good bank of sleep. Talking of which … I'm off to bed. Sweet dreams. x

    2. Ohh that made me laugh!! I will have to try the cream... I usually get CK toilettries as pressies for babies or friends but have never got the cream for myself !! I'd better go to sleep, now it's nearly midnight and I'm still here!!! xx

  9. What a beautiful post Heather - your pics are so bright and clear - but I am sorry about the dry itchies - that can be most annoying! Your work is so gorgeous and such lovely yarn and colours, and I am very much attracted to your wonderful owl - with pink of course! I hope your week is going really well! Hugs, Joy x

  12. So many gorgeous images in this post Heather. I love your crochet, it's all so pretty. I have hand cream all round the house and use it all year, but as soon as the first cold weather comes I get cracks and itchy patches.
I do like the cold weather for a cosy sleep though.
    Have a good week lovely.

  13. You must try Bio-Oil! Seems expensive but a little goes a long way. It was recommended to me for my hip replacement scar - I use it all over and wouldn't be without it now! xx

  14. I'm not much of a Cath Kidston fan (sorry) but I absolutely swear by her hand cream, especially the rose, it's wonderful stuff isn't it.
