Southwold is gorgeous! I've completely fallen in love with the place. Don't tell me it isn't always bathed in glorious sunshine because I simply won't believe you!
If you've never been, do please try and go. I promise you'll love it too. It feels like a small English seaside town trapped in time. No nasty, noisy amusement arcades, fun fairs or kiss me quick hats; just charming pastel cottages smothered in fragrant climbing roses, a beautifully clean beach, and of course, those iconic beach huts stretching as far as the eye can see. (I saw one for sale in an estate agents' window for £40,000! Hmmmm, I think we had better start saving.)
We pottered around nearby Aldeburgh too which is just as lovely.
Thank you so much for your kind anniversary wishes. We had the most wonderful weekend and, yes, I've definitely decided to sign up for another 21 years with that man of mine! ;-)

No wonder you fell in love with that little town... Just looking at your photos already makes me want to go there !!
ReplyDeleteYou've definitely sold it to me Heather. On my to do list now for sure! Gorgeous pictures, and sending the best to you both for the future x
ReplyDeleteWe are lucky enough to live close enough to Aldeburgh and Southwold that we often pop there at the weekend or to eat out. It's interesting to see what we take for granted through someone else's eyes. So pleased that you had a lovely time. X
ReplyDeleteHi Heather, I love your photos of Southwold. It's somewhere I've always wanted to visit, but I haven't got there yet.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your 21 years of marriage.
17 for me this year .....and it's my second....gosh I'm getting old!

That is such a wonderful looking place and so quaintly pretty. No wonder you had a lovely time. Happy anniversary too.
ReplyDeleteIf I had known, I would have told you, but I am glad that you told me! Glad that you had such a good time away, it really does look incredibly beautiful. xx
ReplyDeleteOh Heather you've taken me right back to when we visited in holiday several years ago. I remember buying sardines from one of those huts and sitting by the boating lake (that might have been Aldeburgh?) Looks like you had the sort of weather to see it in all it's glory as well - lovely pictures x Jane
ReplyDeleteYour pics are so bright and clear Heather, they gave me a lovely overall picture of how beautiful Southwold is, thank you! I'm so happy that your time away was so enjoyable! xoJoy
ReplyDeleteYour photos are lovely Heather, and capture all that's best about Southwold.
ReplyDeleteWhen we visited we also went to Walberswick, a small but pretty place where everybody of all ages was crabbing! Its a great area for a holiday, and I'm glad you enjoyed your special weekend.
Gill xx
I'm with Gilly, Walberswick is my favourite, and Dunwich ... all that lovely empty pebble beach! Southwold in summer is delightful but just too busy for us. We have friends who live in a village near Framlingham who we stay with and who are forever trying to persuade us to move to be near them. And were it possible, we would, like a shot. I think you can easily lose your heart to Suffolk.
ReplyDeleteOh my, it is just too stunning for words! It is perfect! The pink house! The beach huts! Oh, I must go...it's where happiness comes from! Chrissie x
ReplyDeleteIt looks dreamy Heather and your pictures are like a shoot from Coast Magazine - truly beautiful ! By the looks of it your weekend was truly restorative .... have you booked already for next year ?
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely day,
Kate x

ReplyDeleteI had to stop and comment on your pictures. They are really fantastic. I've just recently gotten a "good" camera and have been learning and learning how to use it. I really enjoyed your post. And congrats on 21 years!
ReplyDeleteSounds and looks utterly idyllic. I've still never been to Norfolk or Suffolk and now I have yet another reason why I really want to go there. Next time I get the chance, that's going top of my list!

Happy Anniversary sweetie! Sorry I missed the day, but we've been having some tough times lately, lots of hospital visits! Everything is much calmer now though. Looks like you and D had a fabulous time in Southwold...I've been a few times and it's really beautiful :) xxx
