Fruity Scarf

I was quite tempted to christen this the 'Smug Scarf'.

You see, I crocheted all the ends in as I went along.  I know!  It was nothing short of an epiphany.  I chuffing hate the sewing-in bit at the end of a project.  It hangs over me like a woolly cloud.

(I did the final 'trim' after blocking.)

The blocking took place on a towel, on the lounge carpet, after a gentle handwash.  With hindsight, I couldn't have picked somewhere with more of a footfall.  Talk about moths to a flame; I must have shrieked "MIND MY CROCHET!" over a hundred times.

Ten rows of half trebles (half doubles US) in each colour and two of the cream in between.  Back and forwards, back and forwards.  Effortless.  I enjoyed every single stitch.

Those wonderful, wonderful colours.

Are you smiling?

Colours do that don't they?  Make you smile.  Lift your spirits.

I used Rooster Almerino dk wool.  It's got the loveliest drape.

I'd say that's definitely today's 5-A-Day covered, wouldn't you?

  6. What a beautiful scarf and you have every right to feel smug. I on the other hand will be sewing in the ends of my ripple blanket through gritted teeth!

  7. Oh YUMMY YUMMY YUMMY! I bet that is gorgeous draped around the neck. Beautiful colour combination H.....dreamy indeedy. Rooster Almerino is divine yarn. I'd feel very smug too.....and end sewing in as you go along? Mega impressed! Wish I had the discipline, but i've come to just accept doing it all at the end! Would maybe help if I didn't choose such bleeding large projects everytime!

I might just hang out here for a bit and drool away........xxx

  13. My credit card loves that sort of colour combination. If it saw that scarf in a shop, it would leap out of my handbag, over the counter, and type in its PIN while I was still preoccupied by the scented soaps in the far corner. In fact, it would probably look around for a matching blanket.

  21. Just gorgeous! Must try crocheting in the ends as I go, although when in the mood I actually find sewing-in ends satisfyingly therapeutic.
You chose some wonderful colours Heather.
Enjoy wearing as much as you enjoyed making!

  24. Beautiful!
I have to weave in ends as I go because I just know I would never do them if I left them all to the end.

  26. Yummy scarf in yummy colours! Did you follow a pattern or make it up as you went along? How did you do the fringe? I've come across that yarn before and it is sublime! Hanging around here for a while - Craft Hippy xx

    1. Hi Jane. I made it up as I went along in so much as it's just row after row of 30 htr (hdc). Easy peasy! The last row at each end is simply ch3, sk3, slip stitch, etc to make 10 'loops'. I then threaded folded strands of yarn through, fold first, to make the tassels. Hope that makes sense! x
